Question of the Day

Question: How much is a tithe?

Answer:

The percentage that defines the tithe is easy to determine in the Bible, because tithe means “tenth.” The tithe is 10 percent of your income (Genesis 28:22; Leviticus 27:32; Hebrews 7:2, 4).

More specifically, the tithe is the first 10 percent of your income—10 percent of your gross income. Proverbs 3:9-10 says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine.” Tithes should be given from the first fruits—from your income before any expenses or other obligations are taken out—the gross, not the net. (Read also Deuteronomy 26.)

The tithe from your income belongs to God and it lays the foundation for your financial success and abundance.
