Understanding your part and God’s part in your success (by Ramson Muba)

Understanding your part and God’s part in your success

What is success to you? Success will look different in every person’s life since it is the attainment of the goals you set and the realization of your dream.

Success is not an accident. it won’t come in spite of you, it will come because of you.  Many people are waiting and hoping for success, without realizing that success comes by building your life until you are happy with what you have got.

Most believers feel confused regarding their success in life, because they don’t understand what is their part and what is God’s part in that building process.

Psalm 127:1 says this: Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it;

It will be God who builds your life, but you will have to labor also in harmony with Him. Stop trying to get God to bless things that you initiate! Let God be the architect as well as the builder, as you take heed to what the Word says concerning you, and you allow Him to speak into your heart. God’s plan for you comes pre-programmed to work in the face of every challenge and hindrance.

A great example of this is the story of Nehemiah, who re-built the ancient walls of Jerusalem and restored the city. God placed this mission strongly on his heart while he was cup-bearer to King Artaxerxes, far from the land of his home, and despite perils and discouragements of every kind, Nehemiah achieved his goal.

This was Nehemiah’s attitude as he set about the work: “The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build” (Nehemiah 2:20)

Just as God did for Nehemiah, so He will do for you and me.

Let’s break that down so we can understand what that will look like.

God will do for you what you cannot do for yourself. God will open the door for you to be invited to the interview, but you will have to prepare to shine at the interview. He will give you a place a college but you will have to study for the degree. He will give you the job but you have to do a good job to keep the job and be promoted. God will never do for you what you can do for yourself. There are assignments for you and your family.

Learn how to reverse engineer your life. Start with where you want to get to and make small incremental changes every day towards your goal. They may seem insignificant at the time, but as you improve your performance a little every day, it will make a vast difference over time.

Ask yourself, “What do I want this marriage to look like in 50 years?” Once you have decided that you want to grow old with the wife of your youth, and not only that but you want to be happy together, you will know that another girl is not in your future. You won’t have to pray about the cute girl at the office, you will just walk away because only the girl you married is in your future. You won’t have to wonder whether or not to bring her flowers, or tell her you love her often. Those things will be the little things you improve on every day as you build your own future happiness. Then God will add His super on your natural and crown your efforts with success.

If your desire is to become CEO one day, picture yourself holding the board meetings and managing the senior directors and work on the skills that you will need to do that. Learn new words and become articulate. Get to grips with your company’s business. Work on your appearance and presentation. Carry yourself as if you are going somewhere today, even though you might only be making the coffee for the junior managers right now.

As you put energy and enthusiasm into every day, the Lord of Heaven will prosper the work of your hands. Even when enemies rise up against you as they did to Nehemiah, He will fight for you and perfect everything that concerns you. When discouragements come, if you will find the determination to do it just one more time, you will succeed. Successful people are not immune to discouragement. They simply don’t quit. They keep trying until they win.

It doesn’t matter if you have been in jail or if you have been divorced four times, and have no credit, you can still build a life. You can retire with wealth and riches in your house, but you will have to do this like you are serious.

God is ready to build your life. Even when you feel like you are putting in so much but not gaining traction, remember that traction is a product of friction. Just because it is hard doesn’t mean you are not going to make progress. In fact, it is because it is hard that you will make progress. If it gets harder, do it hard, but you are not a quitter. You don’t run away, you do it one more time. You get up again.

You tell yourself, “We are going to do this!” If you have nothing ticking you off, you are not going anywhere. The table is always set in the presence of your enemies. Something might be rubbing you raw, but you can still do it.

That is your part! As you do your part, God will do His part and you will stand in the midst of your confession, praising Him for His faithfulness
